Common Faults Of Slurry Pump And Treatment Methods

Maintanance of slurry pump is also an important part during the usage.If operate in good direction,the slurry pump will have more durable life.

There are four kinds of common failures of slurry pump in operation: corrosion and wear, mechanical failure, performance failure and shaft seal failure, which often affect each other

For example, the corrosion and wear of impeller of slurry pump will cause performance failure and mechanical failure, and the damage of shaft seal will also cause performance failure and mechanical failure

1、 Abrasion or wear shall be mainly considered from two aspects of medium and material, and the worn parts shall be replaced when the wear amount reaches a certain degree

2、 Mechanical failure of slurry pump  is mainly caused by vibration and noise. The main causes are: bearing damage, cavitation and poor assembly

3、 Performance failure mainly refers to accidents such as insufficient flow, insufficient head, cavitation of slurry pump and overload of driving machine

4、 Shaft seal failure mainly refers to leakage at the seal

1. The bearing is hot.

A. Too much, too little or deterioration of lubricating oil will cause bearing heating, and appropriate oil quantity and oil quality shall be prepared

B. Check whether the unit is concentric and adjust the alignment of slurry pump and prime mover

C. If the vibration is abnormal, check whether the rotor is balanced

2. Causes and treatment methods of slurry pump not outputting slurry.

A. There is air in the suction pipe or pump, which should be filled with liquid to discharge the air

B. If the pipeline valve at the inlet and outlet is closed or the blind plate is not removed, the valve shall be opened to remove the blind plate

C. Use a slurry pump with a head higher than the maximum head of the pump, and replace the pump with a high head

D. If the impeller rotates in the wrong direction, correct the rotation direction of the motor

E. If the suction height is too high, the pressure at the inlet should be increased

F. If the sundries are blocked or the suction pipe is small, the blockage shall be removed and the pipe diameter shall be increased

G. If the speed is inconsistent, adjust the speed to meet the requirements

3. Causes of insufficient flow head and its treatment

A. Impeller damaged, replace impeller

B. The sealing ring is damaged too much. Replace the sealing ring

C. If the inlet and outlet valves are not fully opened, they should be fully opened

D. If the medium density is inconsistent with the requirements of the slurry pump, recheck

4. Causes and treatment of serious seal leakage

A. Improper selection of sealing element materials and replacement of appropriate elements

B. Severe wear, replace worn parts and adjust spring pressure

C. The O-ring is damaged. Replace the O-ring

5. The cause and treatment of motor overload

A. The slurry pump and prime mover (motor or diesel engine and other output terminals) are misaligned. Adjust the position to align them

B. Increase the relative density of the medium, change the operating conditions or replace the motor with appropriate power

C. Friction occurs in the rotating part, repair the friction part

D. If the resistance of the device becomes low and the flow is large, the discharge valve shall be closed to obtain the flow specified on the label
