Precautions for using slurry pump are as follows:


1. Preparation before stopping the slurry pump

Close the gate and bring clean water, clean with clean water before the slurry pump stops, and take all the materials in the pipeline, so as to prevent the materials from settling in the feeding and volute after the pump stops, otherwise there are three conditions that affect the service life of the pump.


① After the pump stops, the material sinks and cannot be started when the slurry pump is used again;


② Although the slurry pump can be started again after stopping, the pump will shake greatly during starting. This is mainly caused by precipitated materials


Eccentric force is produced in the rotation of water turbine;


③ When the pump is stopped, the material sinks and the water inlet pipe of the slurry pump is blocked.


2. Ensure that the slurry pump operates under the slurry allowed to be transported

① Each type of slurry pump has the maximum slurry weight concentration and maximum particles that can be transported, and it shall be ensured to operate within the allowable range of the pump when it is used on site.


② If the concentration is too high, the resistance of the feed pipe will be too large, and the individual parts of the slurry pump will be damaged seriously.

③ If the maximum particle allowed by the pump is exceeded, the flow passage of the water turbine will be blocked and vibration will occur, which may damage the flow passage components.


3. Avoid pump operation with high pressure duct not closed

When using the slurry pump in some concentrators, in order to prevent the material from sinking, high-pressure air pipe is usually installed on the feed pipe near the feed tank. The high-pressure air pipe is used to drum up the material sinking due to the pump stopping, so as to avoid that the feed port is blocked by the material and cannot be loaded after the pump is opened.


However, it is necessary to close the high-pressure air pipe when starting the slurry pump. If the high-pressure air pipe is not closed or not closed tightly, it will cause high-pressure air in the material department, because the inlet pressure of the pump is low.


The gas expands in the feed pipe, enters the high pressure area after passing through the water turbine, and rushes to the volute and lining plate, causing severe wear and tear, and even the breakage of the volute or lining plate.


4. Avoid the operation of slurry pump under the condition of insufficient filling height

When the slurry pump is installed in the way of filling, the absolute pressure in the water flow at the pump inlet will inevitably decrease during the normal operation of the pump body, and the minimum pressure area will appear near the water turbine inlet.


With the difference of external conditions and absolute pressure of pumping population, the minimum pressure zone may be as low as the saturated steam pressure of critical pressure water, resulting in cavitation.


The pressure in the minimum pressure zone of the dangerous pump in the field operation is not constant, but depends on the filling height relative to the free liquid level in the suction tank.


5. Pay attention to the supply of shaft seal water for slurry pump

Some slurry pumps are used to ensure the shaft seal of the pump body. Certain shaft seal water will be used to ensure the slurry pump.


As a kind of vulnerable equipment, the wear-resistant slurry pump must pay great attention to the details in the use process. A little mistake may accelerate the damage speed of the slurry pump and reduce the service life of the slurry pump, which will bring great loss to the user.
